Toy Train

Located at Gandhi road, this museum was founded in 2015 to mark the 80th birthday celebration of the current Dalai Lama. Displaying various items, artifacts, and musical instruments, the museum offers a brief but comprehensive overview of Tibetan history and culture. It’s Tenzin Gyatso, the president of Manjushree (an eminent non-profit organization of Darjeeling), who decided to create this museum. The idea was to counter the manipulation of the Tibetan history and misinterpretation of their culture. The purpose has been well served.

The Ghoom Monastery

Known as one of the first Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, Yiga Choeling Monastery of Ghoom was established in 1850. Away from the masses, there are places tranquil and magical. Around 7 kilometers from the Darjeeling town, this monastery lying at an elevation of about 7,407ft is a place that offers peace and rejuvenation. Besides, you get to see a giant statue of the Lord Buddha said to be one of the oldest in this region. Fifteen feet tall, this effigy of Buddha is popularly known as The Maitreya Buddha or the Gyalwa Shampa. Visitors desire to take photographs inside are asked to donate a few amount of money and the charges are mentioned on a board outside.

Batasia Loop

Its located on Hill Cart Road and takes mainly 20 minutes if you come by taxi. If you want to enjoy spiral toy train ride then this magnificent loop will cease your breath with its special charm.  

 This local name suggests the meaning that is airy and you can enjoy a beautiful garden which is about 50,000 sq feet, covered with seasonal flowers and has an aura of its own. If you want you can take a walk through the pathway leads to the garden.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was worked as a tribute to Tenzing with the goal that he could give his abilities to every one of the individuals who sought after ascending exercises in the Himalayas. Japanese Peace Pagoda

This is designed as Buddhist Stupa which embraces every people from communities, race, and culture. It was built as a symbol of peace in Japanese cities. This temple was built under the watch of Nichidatsu Fujii.

The center of attraction in this temple is its Japanese architectural style, with its shining gold polished Buddhist statues. The sanctuary houses four sparkling and gold-cleaned statues of Buddha. Likewise, the dividers of the sanctuary have eight sandstone carvings which demarcate various stories from the various phases of Gautama Buddha’s life.

Harmony Pagoda is known for its serenity. The serenity which the spot offers is genuinely unmatched and is something which each an individual should encounter unique. It is where one can spend the whole day in harmony and tune in to reciting of the priests where they are presenting the harmony mantra ‘nam myoho renge kyo’.

Darjeeling Tea Plantations

There are more than 80 operational tea gardens in this slope district of Darjeeling. The most renowned one is the Happy Valley Tea Estate, which is around 3 km from the town (Closed on Monday) Imagine yourself taking a stroll in the cool breeze across the tea estate or may be sitting in a Bungalow on a sunny day sipping over a fresh flavourful cup of tea.

 

Zoological Park

Darjeeling zoo is home to various wildlife species like Red Panda, Tibetan Barking Wolf, Himalayan Deer and many more. You might also see the famous snow leopard if you stroll around the zoo for a while.

 

Darjeeling Ropeway/Rangeet Valley Ropeway/Passenger Cable Car

Visitors enjoy the oldest passengers’ ropeway which connects Singla Bazar and Darjeeling situated just 100 meters away from the Northpoint School. Guests coming to Darjeeling enjoys the ropeway visit to witness the grand excellence and the rambling tea gardens from the stature of 300-400 meters above.

War Memorial

War Memorial is another attraction of this place. This was opened in 1995 to celebrate the Gorkha warriors of the Darjeeling Hills who gave up their lives in different wars after India’s freedom. At a raised stage there is a Cenotaph and a statue of a fighter paying respect.

Rock Garden

This beautiful garden adds more beauty to Darjeeling also known as Barbitey Rock Garden. It is featured with steep rocks and bends. The best place for a photoshoot if you want. One of the extraordinary scenes you will see in transit is the situation of the mists. You will see them someplace down in the profound canyon, and as you slide rapidly you will see them transcending you. It’s essentially terrific.

As you stroll towards the patio nursery, you will know why this is called Rock Garden.
